Halloween costume shopping and oatmeal scotchies

Yesterday I didn't have to work. For lunch I heated up some of the left over bean, cheese, and bell pepper mixture from making pupusas and made burritos with the last two tortillas. I added sour cream and green taco sauce. I loafed around the house until Winter got home and then we went up to Capitol Hill to pick up things for Winter's Halloween costume.

We went to Value Village and found the skirt, shoes, and jacket she needed. She also used some of her allowance to buy a bag of 4 My Little Ponies, a hardcover copy of Insurgent, and some Halloween makeup. We also picked up a couple more things she needed for her costume at Walgreen's, and we bought a sugar free sparkling water for $.99 and a bag of Werther's caramel apple candies for $2.49.

On the way home we went to QFC and picked up a canister of oats for $2.99, two broccoli florets for $1.98, and a bag of purple grapes for $3.78. It was raining the entire time we were out, and I wished we had brought our own bags because paper bags fall apart in the rain.

Jeremy saved a receipt for a protein bar he bought at Rite Aid earlier for $.99. He was supposed to work out with his heavy lifting coach in the afternoon, but his coach wasn't feeling well and they rescheduled for Friday.

For dinner Winter chopped up three turkey sausages, and the broccoli. I boiled a package of fettucini noodles, sauteed the sausage and broccoli, and made a cheese sauce out of milk, corn starch, and the rest of the garlic jack and one of the bags of mozzarella. After dinner we made oatmeal scotchies, but we only had one full stick of butter left, so I just did a half batch.

Breakfast: smoothie with milk, PB, frozen banana and the rest of the strawberries, peanut butter chocolate pop tarts
Lunch: bean and cheese burritos, berry breakfast shake
Dinner: fettucini with turkey sausage, broccoli, and garlic cheese sauce
Snacks/desserts: strawberry pastry crisps, caramel apple candy, oatmeal scotchies
Beverages: water, sugar free sparkling water

Winter made dinner last night

She made pupusas which are a traditional Salvadoran dish. They are basically a corn tortilla stuffed with cheese and beans, but she was having trouble with the structural integrity and they wound up more like pucks. I think I was supposed to buy masa harina instead of corn flour, but she told me corn flour. She also put chopped green bell pepper in them, which I think made them not hold together as well. They tasted good. We all enjoyed them.

We were going to make oatmeal scotchies last night too, but we only had one cup of oats left. I will buy some today after Winter gets home from school. She wants me to go to the thrift store with her so she can get what she needs for her Halloween costume.

Breakfast: banana bread, pineapple Greek yogurt
Lunch: sandwich with Turkey, goat cheese, and lettuce, honeycrisp apple, chocolate and peanut butter pop tarts
Dinner: pupusas with refried beans, cheese, and bell peppers
Snacks/desserts: dark chocolate pudding, strawberry pastry crisps
Beverages: water

Monday recap

Yesterday I had a (scheduled) day off. I had some appointments for massage and acupuncture. Jeremy had a dentist appointment. I am thinking that after next week I will start going to acupuncture every other week, as you are supposed to go less often as your symptoms improve. I've been sleeping better and definitely have less anxiety.

After not eating very well on Sunday I was kind of longing for some normal food yesterday. I ate much better. I made a big pot of spaghetti sauce with 4 cans of tomato sauce, two cans of diced tomatoes, 3 packages of pre cooked seasoned beef, 2 zucchinis, garlic, red wine, olive oil, Italian seasoning, and dried onion. We have four containers of it left in the freezer, and one small container of spaghetti in the fridge.

We went to Yogurtland after dinner which cost $13.06 after all discounts, and stopped by the store on the way home for corn flour and crackers. Last week's Free Friday Download was for any flavor of Triscuits Thin Crisps. We got sour cream and onion. The corn flour was $1.95 on sale. Jeremy also bought a Rock Star after his dentist appointment for $2.09.

Breakfast: mango orange flavored Mediterranean yogurt with strawberries, banana bread
Lunch: sandwich on a whole wheat bagel with turkey pepperoni, provolone, lettuce, and Dijon mustard, radishes with red pepper hummus
Dinner: spaghetti with meat sauce
Snacks/desserts: dark chocolate pudding cup, strawberry thin crisps, pink lemonade sorbet with sour gummy worms
Beverages: water, Crystal Light

We have about $75 left for this month, and a ton of food in the house. Looks like the rest of October should be easy.

Sunday in the ER :-(

Saturday night Jeremy met me at work and told me that he wasn't making dinner because Winter said she planned to go to Subway. He had already eaten, so on the way home I bought two cheeseburgers and a chocolate shake at Dick's for $6.13. After I got home Winter said she'd decided not to go and just made a sandwich and a box of Mac and cheese instead. Here is what I ate Saturday:

Breakfast: banana bread
Lunch: apple pie flavored Greek yogurt, honeycrisp Apple
Dinner: two cheeseburgers
Snacks/desserts: none
Beverages: water, chocolate shake

Sunday morning I woke up with severe pain in my lower right abdomen. After waiting about 20 minutes it just kept getting worse, so I walked three blocks to the ER at the hospital. Of course I didn't have my insurance card or my phone, so I had to call Jeremy to bring them.

They took blood and urine samples and started an IV, with some amount of difficulty. They said it was likely either coming from my appendix or my right ovary. They didn't find anything abnormal in the pelvic exam, and were planning to do a CAT scan, but in order to do so they needed to run a new IV, because they couldn't use the one in my hand. They tried twice, each attempt more painful and bloody than the next.

At that point my labs started coming back and all of them were normal, showing no infection. They pain pills they gave me had also started working. We decided to hold off on the CAT scan unless the pain returned or worsened. They said that I may have just had an ovarian cyst that ruptured or something.

The pain came back again today, but since the Aleve I took got rid of the pain, and I'm not having any other symptoms of appendicitis, I didn't go back. Wish I knew what was going on. I'm really annoyed that I had to miss work on Sunday. After being gone twice  this month I cannot afford to miss more work.
