Wednesday Wontons

Wednesday was a day off for me. It started off "exciting" as Jeremy dropped a thick glass in the bathroom sink at five in the morning, breaking the sink basin. The building manager came by in the afternoon to look at it. It is obviously toast, but she said she may have another in storage, and if so we won't have to pay for it. If not, we will. Goody.

I had a massage trade at 1:00pm, and after I was done I went home and collected Winter to go to Grocery Outlet. I realized after going there last week that we were out of veg oil and almost out of chicken tenderloins. I bought the following:

Vegetable oil $2.99
2 cans of Shasta ($.35 each) $.70
2.5 lbs frozen chicken tenderloins $6.99
Lemon cheesecake dessert ($.50 each) $1.00
Whole wheat chicken stuffing mix $.99
Shredded mozzarella cheese $1.99
Sugar free grape jam $1.99
Low sugar strawberry jam $1.99
2 caramel Greek yogurts ($.50) $1.00
Gummy Sweet Tarts $.99

Total: $20.63

When we got home she helped me make chicken wonton soup. I thawed out the wonton wrappers we had bought a while back and frozen. The filling had ground chicken breast, an egg, Chinese five spice, sesame oil, soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, spring onions, a little bit of carrot, and garlic. The broth had chicken bouillon, soy sauce, garlic, and sesame oil. We also sliced two carrots into flower shapes by cutting five notches vertically down the length of each carrot, and then slicing horizontally, like this, and added them to the soup. I also put a small amount of the green part of the spring onions in the broth for color. It turned out nice, and everyone ate a lot. The only thing I'd have changed is to put ginger in the wontons as well as the broth, but we were all out.

We also shared a container of the lemon cheesecake for dessert.

Breakfast: Balance Bar
Lunch: raspberry strawberry Greek yogurt
Dinner: wonton soup
Snacks/desserts: gummy Sweet Tarts, lemon cheesecake dessert
Beverages: orange cream Shasta, water

Tuesday at the Asian grocery

On Tuesday I worked my usual shift at the airport until 4:30. After work I stopped at Uwajimaya in the International District. This is what I bought:

Chinese 5 spice: $1.59
3 ice cream bars ($.99 each) $2.97
Low sodium teriyaki sauce $3.29
Soba noodles $1.79
Caramel Corn (like Cheetos but caramel flavored) $2.59
Gyoza wrappers $1.69
Ground chicken $3.41
Spring onions $.89

Total: $18.22

When I got home I cooked up some casserole lasagna noodles, and added a couple packets of pre cooked ground beef, 1 and a half chopped bell peppers, and garlic chili cheddar cheese sauce.

Breakfast: Greek yogurt, mixed berry pop tarts
Lunch: cashews, apple, Balance Bar
Dinner: pasta with bell peppers, ground beef, and chili garlic cheese sauce
Snacks/desserts: honeydew flavored ice cream bar, Caramel Corn
Beverages: water

Monday breakfast date

I am working on Mondays now in exchange for having Sunday's off. Monday is Jeremy's other day off so he asked if I wanted  to go out for breakfast before work. We went to Charlie's, an old restaurant in Capitol Hill that we used to go to often.

Jeremy got the chicken fried steak with hash browns and scrambled eggs. I got fried eggs served on a tostada with black beans, pico de gallo, cheese, avocado, and tortilla chips and a side of hash browns. I also got some orange juice. We spent a total of $29 including tax and tip.

We thawed out some spaghetti sauce from the freezer for dinner and Jeremy cooked some egg noodles with a little butter to eat with it. It was better than I thought it would be. Egg noodles don't seem to go with spaghetti sauce in my mind.

Breakfast: huevos rancheros, hash browns
Lunch: left over habanero mac and cheese, clementine
Dinner: egg noodles with leftover spaghetti sauce
Snacks/desserts: lime sherbet
Beverages: orange juice, water

Saturday and Sunday

I'm going to get caught up since I have a day off today. I promise. Saturday I worked until 7:30. Winter went to a play at her school at 7:00 pm, so she didn't get home until later. Jeremy and I stopped at Menchie's on the way home, which cost $11.97. Jeremy went to the gym for a little while after I got home, so I just heated up something from the freezer.

Breakfast: skipped
Lunch: Campbell's cheeseburger soup, dried figs, celery with red pepper hummus
Dinner: TGIFriday's bacon cheese fries (frozen)
Snacks/desserts: Oreo cookie frozen yogurt with cream cheese frosting topping and brownie bites
Beverages: water

Sunday was my day off. Jeremy decided he wanted to get 30,000 steps in that day, so we did a lot of walking. I didn't do quite as much as he did, but I got at least 20,000 in. I had acupuncture in the morning and he met me after I was done.

He stopped on the way and bought a Rock Star for $2.29. I also got a pumpkin bread at Starbucks for $2.68 as I was finally getting pretty hungry. We went to QFC after that. We bought 5 lbs of clementines for $4.99, 6.85 lbs of honeycrisp apples for $12.89, and a protein drink for $1.99.

We walked back to the apartment, and dropped off the fruit, then Winter walked with us to the Target downtown to pick up cat food. They had dog clothes in the One Spot for $3.00 each and Winter bought a t-shirt, and a quilted jacket for the cats. They were not excited about the new clothes. At all. I also got a limited edition lemonade Mt. Dew for $1.69 which we all shared, some holiday Twizzlers for $1.00, and some white chocolate peppermint M&M's for $3.29. We ate the candy while we watched the Lego Movie later that night.

After we got back from Target I made mac and cheese out of campanelli pasta and a mix of regular and habanero jack cheeses. Jeremy made salsa chicken with rice, sour cream, and a little habanero cheese for dinner.

Breakfast: Starbucks pumpkin bread
Lunch: habanero mac and cheese, honeycrisp apple
Dinner: salsa chicken with rice, sour cream, and cheese
Snacks/desserts: holiday Twizzlers and white chocolate peppermint M&M's
Beverages: water, lemonade Mt. Dew, protein drink

I bought three bottles of Mio reduced for quick sale to $1.99 each, a jar of yeast on sale with a coupon for $5.59, and a carton of lime sherbet for $2.99
