Wednesday Wontons

Wednesday was a day off for me. It started off "exciting" as Jeremy dropped a thick glass in the bathroom sink at five in the morning, breaking the sink basin. The building manager came by in the afternoon to look at it. It is obviously toast, but she said she may have another in storage, and if so we won't have to pay for it. If not, we will. Goody.

I had a massage trade at 1:00pm, and after I was done I went home and collected Winter to go to Grocery Outlet. I realized after going there last week that we were out of veg oil and almost out of chicken tenderloins. I bought the following:

Vegetable oil $2.99
2 cans of Shasta ($.35 each) $.70
2.5 lbs frozen chicken tenderloins $6.99
Lemon cheesecake dessert ($.50 each) $1.00
Whole wheat chicken stuffing mix $.99
Shredded mozzarella cheese $1.99
Sugar free grape jam $1.99
Low sugar strawberry jam $1.99
2 caramel Greek yogurts ($.50) $1.00
Gummy Sweet Tarts $.99

Total: $20.63

When we got home she helped me make chicken wonton soup. I thawed out the wonton wrappers we had bought a while back and frozen. The filling had ground chicken breast, an egg, Chinese five spice, sesame oil, soy sauce, chili garlic sauce, spring onions, a little bit of carrot, and garlic. The broth had chicken bouillon, soy sauce, garlic, and sesame oil. We also sliced two carrots into flower shapes by cutting five notches vertically down the length of each carrot, and then slicing horizontally, like this, and added them to the soup. I also put a small amount of the green part of the spring onions in the broth for color. It turned out nice, and everyone ate a lot. The only thing I'd have changed is to put ginger in the wontons as well as the broth, but we were all out.

We also shared a container of the lemon cheesecake for dessert.

Breakfast: Balance Bar
Lunch: raspberry strawberry Greek yogurt
Dinner: wonton soup
Snacks/desserts: gummy Sweet Tarts, lemon cheesecake dessert
